Doring Bay is situated 8km from Strandfontein. The jetty and crayfish factory with the lighthouse in the background creates a picture that many a people capture in their minds and on camera. The bay was originally used as an anchorage for the trading route. Camels was used to transport the provisions from the bay to surrounding towns
Doring Bay is a must see during the flower season. A bonus to this picturesque town is the hiking trail between Doring Bay and Strandfontein. It is an untouched rustic countryside where you can see both the whales and the flowers in season. Definitely an experience not to be missed. In Doring Bay the people make a living from the packaging and export of crayfish. The economy of the town is closely linked to the operation of the crayfish factory. Local fisherman also make a living out of the harsh conditions on the ocean. Doring Bay's bay is also used by diamond vessels to anchor in heavy weather.
