This town is only 220 kilometers from Cape Town and is a favorite coastal town known for its seafood as well as its natural wonders such as Verlorenvlei (a marsh) which lies between Elands Bay and Redeling- huys. During spring Elands Bay is a paradise of flowers while Verlorenvlei, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean, is host to more than 240 different bird species. In the Bobbejaan Mountains above
Elands Bay, there are numerous Bushman paintings. The breathtaking waves that break here, is a must for every surfer.

Elands Bay is the larder of West Coast lobster. You can either buy it from the fishermen or catch them yourself. Verlorenvlei
Bird Estuary is certainly one of the most rewarding birding destinations
in the Western Cape, especially when waders from the northern hemisphere
emigrate to the warmer climate of this region. Besides the many exotic
species that migrate here, the reserve is also home to numerous
indigenous bird species. No less than 232 kinds of bird have been
recorded here. The reserve consists of a large wetland that stretches
along 25km. Apart from bird watching and walking, canoeing is also
allowed.
